PARTAKERS OF THE INHERITANCE (Colossians 1:12)

While Jesus was on earth, He spoke of an inheritance that will be given. Matthew 5:5 "Blessed [are] the meek: for they shall inherit the earth." Notice that it is not automatic. For every promise, God places a condition on it. To inherit the earth, one is to be meek.

What must we do to inherit eternal life? That is the same question that was posed to Jesus. Mark 10:17-19 "And when he was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life? And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? [there is] none good but one, [that is], God. Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honour thy father and mother." Is Jesus telling us that we are to keep the commandments to "work" our way to eternal life? Romans 3:20 "Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law [is] the knowledge of sin." So does that mean we may break the commandments? Romans 3:31 "Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law." Romans 6:2 "God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?" Romans 6:15 "What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid." So what was Jesus saying? By keeping the law, no one is guaranteed eternal life, however, deliberate violation of the law is a personal rejection of eternal life. God does not cover willful sin (Hebrews 10:26). So to be in the "running" as Paul would put it (1 Corinthians 9:24), we will be keeping the commandments not to be saved but because we are saved.

Is keeping the law important to Jesus? It must have been because He was questioned twice on the subject at two different times. Luke 10:25-28 "And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou? And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself. And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live." Remember that these two commandments are actually all ten in a synopsis form. Matthew 22:37-40 "Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second [is] like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets."

How long has this inheritance been prepared? Matthew 25:34 "Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world."

What could the inheritance cost? Matthew 19:29 "And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life." If our family members are bent on not accepting Christ, we may have to choose Christ over our family members. How much of a reality could this be? Matthew 10:34-36 "Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. And a man's foes [shall be] they of his own household." Is this the way God would have it? John 17:11 "And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we [are]." Can we just overlook differences and compromise to keep peace? Matthew 10:37 "He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me."

Who will be missing out on the inheritance? 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 "Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God."

When do we receive the inheritance? John 14:2-3 "In my Father's house are many mansions: if [it were] not [so], I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, [there] ye may be also." 1 Corinthians 15:50-52 "Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption. Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed."

And what does God promise? Titus 1:2 "In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began." Galatians 3:29 "And if ye [be] Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise." Revelation 21:7 "He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son." What blessed promises.

Keep these thoughts in front of you and Satan will be a defeated foe. &

Real Love For the Month of Love

1. In one word, what is God? 1 John 4:8, 4:16 "He that loveth not knoweth not God; for GOD IS LOVE. And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. GOD IS LOVE; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him."

To BLASPHEME HIS NAME is to take on titles that belong to God and God alone. Further, Jesus expounds upon this in one of His rebukes to the preachers of that time. Matthew 23:8-12 "But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, [even] Christ; and all ye are brethren. And call no [man] your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven. Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, [even] Christ. But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant. And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted."

Low Levels Mean High Heart Disease Risk

Although the FDA recommends taking an amount of B vitamins that would be found in about four glasses of orange juice, a recent study found the optimal amount may be closer to what you would get in 24 glasses.

Broccoli, bananas, and bran flakes. It is the B that makes them good for you.

B vitamins got a boost this week from two new studies which proved for the first time that high levels of the vitamins can significantly cut risks of heart disease and stroke. The vitamins, scientists believe, reduce the levels of homocysteine, an amino acid in the blood that contributes to clogged arteries.

Research, published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, raises serious questions about whether the levels of B vitamins currently recommended to the public are what they should be. Vitamin B6 Current RDA: 2 milligrams UM Study Amount: 100 milligrams Food Sources:

100% bran cereal 1 cup (2.1 mg.)

40% bran flakes cereal 1 cup (0.80 mg.)

Watermelon 1 slice (0.69 mg.)

Banana 1 med. (0.66 mg.)

Avocado 1 med (0.56 mg.)

The verdict is still out, but the National Academy of Sciences-the group that sets the Recommended Dietary Allowance-is researching the issue and will offer new guidelines in April.

"The RDA is set to prevent people from being deficient," says Dr. Eric Rimm, Harvard School of Public Health researcher and lead author of the study. "If that's the goal, then fine. But I believe it should be set higher, to prevent heart disease."

Dr. Richard Macko agrees. His study, being presented today at an American Heart Association conference on strokes, found that much higher amounts of three B vitamins (folate, B6 and B12) lowered the risks of stroke.

So does all this mean you should run out and buy scads of supplements? The resounding response from scientists and nutritionists alike is no.

"Those who have the highest longevity-people from Asia, France, Italy-aren't popping large doses of vitamins," says Dr. Audrey Cross, a nutrition professor at Columbia’s School of Public Health. "You see a pattern of a healthy lifestyle, good eating and exercise habits, limited stress."

As far as diet goes, that means green vegetables, citrus fruits, lean meats and fortified cereals. It is quite all right to throw back a sloppy burger and fries once in a while, but the goal here is to achieve an overall healthy, vitamin-rich diet.

"No matter how many vitamin B pills you take," Cross says, "They’re not going to protect you from your worst enemy: your own bad habits." &
