The following is considered minor news snippets that may appear in the newsletter:
CNN, May 5, 2008 - Students strip to skivvies before finals
Arizona State University students proudly run around in their underwear, throwing clothes into the air before finals.
COMMENT: 1 Timothy 2:9 "In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array." This applies to the men as well. Nothing modest at all, but then again, when even Christians see nothing wrong with bikini's they see nothing wrong with underwear only, especially since underwear covers more than a bikini. What society accepts and what God says are definitely two different things. Don't declare this harmless fun blowing off stress. It is just another example of how sexually oriented this society has become even to the point that such activity conducted by the students isn't even thought of as sexual. Sodom and Gomorrha, here we are.
The Sun, April 21, 2008 - Food Rationing Confronts Breadbasket of the World
Many parts of America, long considered the breadbasket of the world, are now confronting a once unthinkable phenomenon: food rationing.
COMMENT: Matthew 24:7 "For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places." Are we about to face famines in a country unthinkable?
CNN, April 21, 2008 - U.N. expert: Food crisis 'a silent tsunami'
Those battling global warming by promoting biofuels may unintentionally be adding to skyrocketing world food prices, creating what one expert calls "a silent tsunami" in developing nations. The rising prices are "threatening to plunge more than 100 million people on every continent into hunger," Josette Sheeran, executive director of the United Nations' World Food Program, said on the agency's Web site Tuesday.
COMMENT: Matthew 24:7 "For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places." Are we about to face famines in a country unthinkable?
The Portland Mercury, April 17, 2008 - Turning the Tables
A CITIZEN who watched a cop illegally park, then walk into a Chinese restaurant to wait for his food, has issued the officer a series of citizen-initiated parking violations.
COMMENT: Matthew 23:3 "All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, [that] observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not." There is always someone in any profession that brings on a bad name, but it worse when a person representing the law breaks it themselves.
